Obituary for Thomas Ray Bowen Sr.

Mr. Thomas Ray Bowen, Sr., 88, of Powellton went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, with his family by his side.
Born on March 21, 1922, in McDunn, he was the son of the late Katie Louise Cotton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Mae Brogan-Bowen, his son, Thomas R. Bowen, Jr., his grandson, Phillip John Bowen.
Mr. Bowen was a retired coal miner of Semet Solvay Coal Company at Harewood, WV. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a World War II veteran. He was a commissioner of the Armstrong Public Service District for many years. He attended Powellton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of five years, Thelma J. Rule-Bowen, his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Beverly Bowen of Powellton, his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Roger Wagner ll. of Charlton Heights, Grandchildren, Christy Bowen-Pinsky of Ellicott City, Maryland, Kevin Ray Bowen of Columbia, Keith Bowen of St. Albans, Jason King of Charlton Heights, Lisa Bowen of Powellton, Amanda Howell of Charlton Heights, Great-Grandchildren, Tatum Pinsky, Luke Pinsky, Rhys Pinsky, Shawna Bowen, Nathan Bowen, Adam Bowen, Abigail Bowen, Allison Bowen, Druw Bowen, Jillian King, Isaiah Howell, and Isabella Howell.
Services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery with Rev. Joe Darlington officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow with military honors.
Friends may call on Friday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery.
