Obituary for Thomas J. Edelman

Thomas Joe Edelman, 32, born on Father’s Day, June 19, 1983 at CAMC to Betty Jo Parker and John Thomas Edelman of Kimberly, passed away on October 10, 2015 due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bonnie Sue Parker and John Thomas and Joanne Edelman.
Thomas was a four year Army veteran and a volunteer captain firefighter for Smithers Fire Department where he served for 14 years. His career was being an electrician, but he was a true”Mr Fixit”. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. Thomas touched the lives of many and he would help a total stranger as if he knew them forever.
In addition to his parents, Thomas is survived by the love of his life and companion of 8 years, fiancé Wendy Perdue, his Papaw Joe Parker of Kimberly, brother John Parker Edelman (wife Sarah) of Montgomery, niece Hannah of Nitro, nephews John James of Nitro, Austin of Kimberly, Alex and Aaron of Montgomery. He is also survived by aunts Martha Parker Slack (Bill) and Diana Parker Wood (Terry) and cousins Elizabeth and Will Slack, and Chris Wood.
In addition, surviving him are many great aunts, great uncles, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Thomas also leaves behind three of his closest friends, Thomas Van Meter, Joey Myers, and Dustin Perdue.
Service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Valley High School Gymnasium with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Entombment will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow with both Fireman Honors and Military Honors. Phone calls from friends are welcomed and friends may visit from noon until service at the Gym.
