Obituary for Thomas Wallace Wendell Jr.

Thomas Wallace Wendell, Jr., 85, of Hilltop, West Virginia, formerly of Pratt, West Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016, after a short illness. He was born September 26, 1930 to Thomas Wallace and Ada Jane Wendell in Boomer, West Virginia.

Thomas worked most of his career as a machinist at Marathon Coal Bit Company, Inc., which later became MCB Holding Company, in Smithers, West Virginia. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and boating. He also enjoyed bowling. His hobbies included working on automobiles and other small engines. He served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his ex-wife Betty Wendell, of Pratt, West Virginia, three sons, Harry Wendell and his wife Tracey, of Stanley, North Carolina, Jerome Wendell and his wife Sierra, of St. Albans, West Virginia, and Timothy Wendell and his wife Michea, of Evans, West Virginia, and his two daughters, Pamela Hannum and her husband Mark, of Cottageville, West Virginia, and Faith Bowyer and her husband C.D., of Pratt, West Virginia; his stepson Kenneth Rader of Hilltop, West Virginia; fifteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mona Vassel, and her husband Bill, of Chesapeake, West Virginia, Melba Everett and Catherine Everett, of Odessa, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ada, four brothers, three sisters and his companion Pamela Kay Elliot Rader.

A special thank you to Raleigh General Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Thomas Memorial Hospital and Golden Living Center Riverside for their loving care and support during his illness.

Service will be 12:00 PM Wednesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. John Prichard officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors.
