Obituary for Vickie Lou Feltner

Vickie Lou Feltner
Our Earth-bound angel, Vickie Lou Ellison Feltner, of Clifftop, received her heavenly wings and was welcomed into the arms of Our Father on December 18, 2023. Born on September 30, 1949, in Beckley WV to Lewis W. “Foots” Ellison Jr. and Mildred “Mickey” Small Ellison. When God was ready, Mamaw Mickey turned on the porch light, Papaw Foots whistled, and their little girl came home. There to greet her with open arms and tears of joy were her husband Jack R. Feltner, son Jack Micah “Big” Feltner, grandsons Zachary T. Feltner and Joshua N. Feltner, and her brothers Billy and Eddie Ellison, and sister Kitty Ellison, and her granddaughter Sydney Grace, whom she had yet to meet.

Those of us left to cherish her memory are her brother Larry (Leola) Ellison of Drennen WV, and special sister Nancy (Wayne) Bryant of Newport News VA, daughter Tina Wriston of Glasgow, sons Joel (Heather) Feltner of Ansted WV, Aaron (Sara) Feltner of Fayetteville WV. Grandchildren Jacob (Anna) Feltner of Oak Hill WV, Hali (Austin) Boyce of Lookout Wv, Noah Feltner of Oak Hill WV, Kelsea, Nathaniel, Adam, and Grace Bennett of Ansted WV, Ellison and Lance Wriston of Glasgow WV, Owen Feltner of Fayetteville WV, Eli Feltner of Ansted WV, and Emma and Ellie Morris of Summersville WV. Great-grandchildren Alex Underwood of Oak Hill WV, Khloe Feltner of MacArthur WV, Kacen, Kegan, Kallan, Kolton, and Remington Boyce of Lookout WV, and Parker Feltner of Oak Hill WV. Plus, a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Vickie was a 1966 graduate of Nuttall High School where she met Jack and started their life together. She was a homemaker but worked harder than any laborer in the workforce. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Beauty Mountain Baptist Church in Edmond WV for nearly fifty years, teaching the love of Christ to many Sunday School classes. After her faith, family was her passion. She spent years driving kids to ball practice and games, concerts, field trips, Boy Scouts functions, and the Babcock pool. She was content on the beach with a book or in the front seat of a roller coaster.

Raising her family, she instilled in them the values she held dear, taking care of others and uplifting those in need. All her kids and grandkids are volunteer firefighters. She reared three paramedics, three EMTs, a deputy sheriff, a police officer, a nurse, and a gospel singer, each loving The Lord and determined to help others. Not only did she raise her kids with these values, but she raised countless numbers of their friends and teammates through the years; everyone was welcome “On the Farm.” Her passing will no doubt leave a huge void only filled by the realization that we will see her again one day.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 22, 2023, at 1 pm, at the Beauty Mountain Baptist Church, 2368 Edmond Rd Lookout WV 25868, with Pastor Jonathan Bailess officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Victor WV. Friends may call from 6 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, December 21 at the church, and one hour before the services on Friday. O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery is in charge of arrangements.
