Obituary for Virgil S. "Puddin" Sigmon

Virgil Steve “Puddin’ Sigmon, 87, of Powellton died November 23, 2010. He was born March 27, 1923 in Julian and was the son of the late Julian and Nellie Angel Sigmon. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Pete, Toncul, and George; daughter, Carolene; grandchildren, Keith and Candice Parker.
He attended Elkridge Community Church. He was retired from Central Appalachia Coal Company and he was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Sigmon; children, Bonnie Bragg of Kimberly, Connie Bowen of Kimberly, Kathy Tackett of Charleston, and Virgil Steve, Jr. of Powellton; brothers, Junior of Wharton, Charles of Mt. Carbon, and Kenneth of Powellton; sisters, Faye Grounds of Montgomery Heights, Betty Underwood of Beckley; grandchildren, Tina, Angel, Stephanie, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Britny, Jenifer, Billie, Chad, Alyssa, and Savannah.
Services will be at noon Saturday, November 27, 2010 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Brenda Neal, Rev. Chuck Cunningham, and Rev. Roger Comer officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call Friday from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
The family sends special thanks to the staff of Montgomery General Hospital 2nd and 3rd Floors.
