Obituary for Willa Jean Messer

Willa Jean Messer ag 89 of East Kingston passed away Wednesday December 22, 2021, at Raleigh General Hospital. She was born November 20, 1932, in Walton and she was the daughter of the late Willim Herbert and Minnie Harper Taylor.
Mrs. Messer was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She had been a faithful member of both Burnwell Church of the Nazarene at Burnwell and Fairview United Methodist Church at East Kingston.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband Cecil Messer, sister Mary Kinley, brother William Herbert Taylor Jr., 2 nephews Arnold Wayne Kinley and Darren Keith Taylor.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include 2 sons Cecil Kenneth Messer and wife Mary of East Kingston and William Messer and wife Anna of Rural Hall, NC; daughter Lisa of East Kingston; 7 grandchildren Melissa Gravley and Husband Eric of Crab Orchard, Cecil Scott Messer and wife Christie of Oak Hill, William Keith Messer and wife Jessie of King, NC., Cherie Love and husband Brandon of Walnut Cove, NC., Ronnie Watkins, II and wife Courtney of Walnut Cove, NC., Molly Messer of King, NC., Ian Messer of Rural Hall, NC., 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a brother Ezra Taylor and wife Drema of Huntington, WV., and many nieces and nephews she cherished.

Visitation will be held at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery from 11AM – 12PM on Monday, December 27, 2021. Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow.

Pallbearers will be Eric Gravley, Ronnie Watkins, II, Scott Messer, Scott Chuyka, Brandon Love, Keith Messer, Ian Messer and Jordon Messer.
