Robert J. “Bob” Damron age 79 of Gauley Bridge and Salisbury, NC and a former resident of 32 years of Lake, West Virginia died August 25, 2009. He was born September 6, 1929 at Nolan, WV and was the son of the late Benjamin and Allie Williams Damron.
He attended First Baptist Church in Rockwell, NC and he was retired from the Westmorland Coal Company as Health and safety director in Clothier, WV. He was very active in mine rescue.
Surviving: wife Eva Dorsey Damron; father-in-law Ralph Dorsey of Gauley Bridge; children Bobby Damron Jr. and his wife Vickie of Middleport, Ohio, Richard Damron and his wife Sherry of Hildebran, NC, Karen Reichenbach,her husband Craig of Reidsville, NC and Susan Collins and her husband Shane of Rockwell, NC; grandchildren Jennifer, Keith, Shayna, Michael, Eric, Kristin, Makayla, Matthew and Ryan; great-grandchildren Jacob and Josh; brother Paul Wayne Damron and his wife Monna Kay of Woodville, WV.
Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. John Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers Bob’s wishes is that donations be given to any children cancer center in his memory or the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston WV.
